Vision Sensors
Vision Senors are smart sensors, which can be used instead of photoelectric sensors, proximity sensors, and other sensors like this. Krempien+Petersen uses the Checker 200 series for cases where, for instance, multiple photoelectric sensors are needed to send a signal to a PLC to inform that a part is at a specific position (e.g. an inspection position). The Checker has been developed for limited space/room and has the protection class IP67, whereby it can be used even in harsh environments such as food or pharmaceutical industry.
The vision sensor has an image sensor, an image processor and a built-in multi-colored lighting. The Checker is designed for simple tasks (such as triggering). However, it can not replace a camera based quality inspection system. It may be used as "intelligent photoelectric sensor" for triggering a following inspection system.
Where formerly expensive laser barriers, for example, were used to identify a product, this can be realized today cheaper with the Checker.
